Definition of Globalization

Today we are going to talk about globalization index of Italy. What is Globalization?  Globalization is the process of spreading ideas, good and beliefs through interaction, which affects the world economically, socially, culturally, and intellectually through advancement in transportation and communication technology.

GLOBALIZATION

The speed of globalization will mostly be affected by technology. It is because of modern technology, we are able to go anywhere by using transportation technology. Transportation nowadays is faster, safer, and cheaper than before. Which made different products, goods, and people are able to travel around the world faster, safer, and cheaper. The other things that modern technology affects are human interaction. It makes culture become more interconnected and causes cultural mixing. The reason technology is changing culture is because many people are able to travel from one country to another. Also, by using phones, computers, the internet, we can search for information online and learn about other countries by using the internet, and also by using phones, people can call each other in different place. By using machines, we are able to produce different kind of product and goods faster, such as clothes, food, and cars, then transported by airplanes, ships, trains, and cars to other places. People do things about technology every day, such as transporting, and machines factoring, and it made up a chain reaction, and this kind of chain reaction made countries globalizing faster.

Globalization sounds good but it also has bad influence:

  • Diseases can spread faster.
  • Make poor people poorer because they don’t have money to trade, and made rich people become richer because they are able to trade and buy things to increase economy.
  • Pollution in world become worse because of technology(transportation, factory)
  • Some unpopulated language and culture start disappearing.
  • Animal and insects are spread by transportation which is harmful to the environment.

As we can see from the data and the map above, Italy had been globalized and be rank  22 out of 207 different countries in globalization index, 49th in Economic Globalization, 29th in political globalization, 2nd in Social Globalization.

Political Globalization’s date is calculated mostly on the membership in international organization and the treats with other countries, so according to the data and the rank above, we can tell that Italy is in an important part of the world.

Economic globalization’s data is calculated by one country’s trades with others, so from the data and ranking above, we can tell that Italy is one of the important trading centers in the world.

Social globalization is calculated on the data of follows, trade, information, telephone calls between international and little part of personal’s contact. So from the data and the rank above, we can see that Italy government and people has many interaction between different parts of the world.

Globalization index is the total percentage of political globalization, economic globalization, and social globalization. So according to all of the data, Italy is a very globalized country.
